Joanne O'Meara

drums / hybrid acoustic kit

I had to bring enough energy for the hits ‘Reach’ and ‘Two in a million’ but on a kit that kept to the assignment of a percussive setup. I used a hybrid cajon drum kit that enabled me to be authentic to the music. 

For this show we supported Matt Goss at the London Palladium.

Revilo

The label sent me a huge folder of stems for each song. I arranged them in logic, removing parts that we would be playing live, but also using filtering techniques to keep the sonics of some instruments whilst removing the low end. I sampled some of the sounds onto my SPD-SX. Live, I ran the tracks and click to the band and triggers some samples in real time. I added a rock / pop feel over the music to support the huge guitar riffs and playback stems. 

We played at a number of label events, performed a stripped back acoustic set for Sofar Sounds and put together a gutsy show for Heaven in London

Tanisha Rose

I had a very specific assignment to strip back the songs with a cajon, shaker and some added percussion such as bongos, tambourines and cymbals. I dialled it down to showcase the singers vocals and to bring the right dynamic for a support slot. By layering percussion I brought large and varied soundscape to the stage without being too overpowering. 

This was for a double show at the Jazz Cafe London.

Mila Falls

I was hired to bring colossal amounts of energy to the stage and run the playback. This show was ran on a simple playback system with most of the original elements on track. I played most shows on a full kit, adding spicy fills and hitting hard. I did my best to match the energy of the music with physical energy and stage presence. 

For a promo video shoot, I reworked my setup into a portable percussive kit to play the set acoustically in a more intimate setting.

With Mila we performed in Ibiza, Croatia, Paris and across the UK.

Phantom Runners

I was required to play an electronic set up that was portable enough for European travel. I played the show on an SPD-SX sample pad and a foot trigger, enhancing the show with some live cymbals. The artist wanted to keep strict to the album sounds so I acquired the stems and sampled the exact sounds so I could play them in real time with a live feel and even ad lib using the album sounds.

We did a small European tour and a run of UK festivals such as Sound City, The Great Escape, Blissfields, Leefest & Victorious Festival.
