About me

I remember going to watch my dad play drums in the smokey pubs with his rock bands. He would set the kit up in the garage at the weekends and I would go in and try my best to play along to Metallica or Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Something about the physical element and aggressiveness of the drums really helped me to express myself outside of school, which I disliked and never did very well at.

With the help of my great teacher Steve Hamper, who has now sadly passed away, I managed to get into Tech Music School and ICMP and spent the next four years honing my craft in London eventually gaining a Masters in Music. Within two weeks of graduating I was on a plane to the South of France for a week long drumming residency.

I have built on my experience and artist portfolio since graduating and have been lucky enough to have music take me over 3000 miles away from my hometown of Rushden in the East Midlands. I have opened up for Lee Scratch Perry, Matt Goss, Rudimental & The Fine Young Cannibals whilst playing for a selection of artists which you can see here.

I bring direction to the rehearsal room and stage. I envision to respect the sonics of the original recording but add different live elements to satisfy an audience and turn the energy level up. Such elements involve reworking an original song, adding hits or building layers. In addition, I use playback systems to run backing tracks and do live talkback to keep the band in check in real time.

I have a strong pop feel and bring energy and punchiness to songs. I love to incorporate electronic sounds with my live kit to keep song authenticity but to take my sound to another level.

Fully hybrid

Using triggers and sample pads, I trigger the original sounds from the studio tracks on the fly, combining them with the punchiness of a live kit to give the music that extra punch it needs live whilst remaining authentic

FROM STUDIO TO STAGE

I absolutely love taking stems from a studio album and preparing them for live use. Balanced just right, it keeps its original elements whilst removing the parts played by the live band. I then run this with a click to the band and FOH for a streamlined show

VERSATILE SETUPS

I tailor my setup to the gig and artists needs. I can scale back to a small acoustic cajon setup for a live lounge vibe right up to an arena size rig to fit the sonic needs and energy of the environment and music
